When I was a child I used to believe I'm a witch. Naaah who am I kidding, I still do! Last summer I had a pleasure of illustrating this book by Ariel Kusby. I would go out to the meadow and forest to pick plants and herbs to draw, the slow feeling of summer all around, warm breeze, sun on my skin, smile on my face and this sensation of excitement you get hiding in a fort as a kid. This book made me feel like a happy child for a moment. I am not sure I will be able to feel like that this year, but when I look at the work I've done I can remember clearly. Ariel said that since she was a kid, she used imagination, magic, and creative hands-on activities to get her through tough times. She wrote this book for her inner child. I can truly say that my inner child was delighted reading it. THE LITTLE WITCH’S BOOK OF SPELLS by Ariel Kusby, which will be released on August 25th, 2020, is now pre-orderable from Chronicle books!
